Reinstatement Requirements Traffic Tickets-Point Suspension/Revocation - If you accumulate eight points in 18 months, your driver license will be suspended for 30 days if it is the first suspension, 60 days if it is the second suspension, and 90 days if it is the third suspension. If you accumulate 12 points in 12 months, 18 points in 24 months, or 24 points in 36 months, your driver license will be revoked for one year. Suspension or Revocation for Points - Non Alcohol Moving Violations (Examples: speeding, stop sign, careless driving, etc.) You must pay a $20 reinstatement fee and file proof of liability insurance (SR 22). It must be kept for in force and on file with the DOR for two years from the starting date of your suspension/revocation. If you have lost your driver's license for one year for accumulation of points, you must also retake the complete driver's examination. Motor Vehicle Accident Judgment - You must pay the full amount of the court ordered or enter and file a payment plan, pay a $20 reinstatement fee, and file proof of liability insurance form (SR 22). Failure to File an Accident Report - You must pay a $20 reinstatement fee and file an accident report form DOR 1140. Points Alcohol - Related Moving Violations (Examples: DWI, BAC, manslaughter) You must pay a $45 reinstatement fee, file proof of insurance form (SR 22), and file proof that you completed a SATOP program. If your license was revoked for points for an alcohol related violation, you must also retake the complete driver's examination. Refusal For Not Taking Alcohol or Drug Test - You must pay a $45 reinstatement fee and file proof you completed a SATOP program. In State or Out - of - State Failure to Appear Suspension (Example: unpaid traffic ticket in Missouri or another state) You must pay a $20 reinstatement fee and proof of compliance (form showing payment or appearance from Missouri Court, or if out of state, from the out of state agency) Note: This type of suspension may be reinstated at any Missouri driver license office. Failure to Maintain Insurance - You must pay $20 reinstatement fee and provide proof of liability insurance (copy of your insurance identification card or SR 22). Note: Review this chart for the type of action for which you originally lost your license to determine what type of proof is required (SR 22 or insurance identification card). Out - of - State Accident - You must pay a $20 reinstatement fee and file a reinstatement (clearance) letter from other state. Mandatory Insurance (Example: failure to have insurance) For a 1st Offense, you must pay a $20 reinstatement fee. For a 2nd Offense, you must pay a $200 reinstatement fee. For a 3rd Offense, you must pay $400 reinstatement fee. In all cases, you must provide proof of liability insurance (copy of your insurance identification card). Note: If an accident is involved, an SR 22 form is required for the proof of insurance. An identification card will not be accepted. Security Accident (Example: how much money you owe in damages from an accident) You must pay a $20 reinstatement fee, and file a bond, a deposit, or proof of restitution for the damages (installment agreement or release) False Insurance Suspension - You must pay a $150 reinstatement fee and provide proof of liability insurance (copy of your insurance identification card). Ten - Year License Denial - In order for you to get your driver license reinstated, you must serve the ten year denial period and obtain an order of reinstatement from the circuit court in the county where the last conviction occurred. After you have served at least three years of the ten year denial, you may be eligible to apply for a Limited Driving Privilege through the court. |
