•  Determine why your Missouri driver's license was suspended or revoked. The easiest way of getting your official Missouri driving record is to order it from the Missouri Department of Revenue: (573) 751-2730.

•  Once you have obtained your driving record, you can determine all of the reasons your Missouri driver's license might have been taken away. It is important that you understand your Missouri driver's license might have been suspended for more than one reason. When this happens, you must do different things to satisfy each of the different types of suspension / revocations to get your Missouri driver's license back. Different reasons for suspending licenses last different amounts of time.

•  If all the dates on your driving record show that you are eligible to get your license back, you may use the chart below to determine what needs to be filed, and what filing fee you must pay to get your Missouri driver's license reinstated. If it is too soon to get your Missouri driver's license back, and you need to get a limited driving privilege to drive to work, see the information on the end of this page, or CLICK HERE for more information regarding more information on limited driving privileges.

•  As discussed, your Missouri driver's license could be suspended for more than one reason. If your driver's license has, in fact, been suspended for more than one reason, look at the information below under each reason your license might have been suspended to see what forms you need to file, the amounts of money you need to pay, and any other requirements to get your Missouri driver's license reinstated. NOTE: You will only need to file one proof of liability insurance form (SR-22) even if it is required under all the reasons your license was suspended if there is more than one reason.

Jefferson City, Missouri
(573) 751-4600

OR

Mail Your Money and Forms to:

HOW DO I FILE THE NECESSARY FORMS IN ORDER TO GET MY MISSOURI DRIVER'S LICENSE BACK?

When proof of insurance is required after your Missouri driver's license has been suspended, your insurance company may file proof of liability insurance coverage for you on an SR-22 form. Submitting your insurance card is sufficient proof of insurance only for Mandatory Insurance Suspensions that do not involve accidents. You need to keep proof of insurance for three years from the date you lost your Missouri driver's license for not having insurance, or two years from the date you lost your Missouri driver's license for any other reason.

A SATOP Program (Substance Abuse Traffic Offenders Program) will file proof with the Missouri Director of Revenue and Missouri Vehicle Services Bureau when you have completed your SATOP program after getting your Missouri driver's license suspended.

WHAT IS A MISSOURI LIMITED DRIVING PRIVILEGE?

If your Missouri driver's license has been suspended and if you cannot get your driver's license back, but you need to drive for employment or other important matters, you may apply for limited driving privilege.
You may get such privileges unless you have certain convictions or losses of driver's license on your driving record. Some convictions or past losses of license are so serious that a limited driving privilegewill not be granted, even for you to get to work.
In these cases, you will have to wait until you are eligible for your driver's license being reinstated without being able to drive, even to work, while suspended. According to Missouri law, the reasons why you cannot get a limited driving privilege, include, but are not limited to:

Already received limited a driving privilege within the last five-year period;
Conviction for a felony involving the use of a motor vehicle;
Conviction for leaving the scene of a motor accident (does not include municipal or county convictions)
Two or more revocations for refusing a drug or alcohol chemical test
Disqualification of commercial driving privileges (Note: Only a non-commercial limited driving privilege may be issued in this case)
Conviction for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or controlled substances.
