Editor's Note:  Fees vary as much as 500% or more

Mr. Head has been practicing criminal law for 27 years. He charges a premium for his experience. Mr. Head's fees are among the highest in Georgia. The primary reason for this is that he limits the cases he personally handles, and "price" is the best way to restrict his caseload.

If a case is kept at a lower court (e.g. Municipal Court) close to Mr. Head's office, the MAXIMUM fee he will charge is $10,000. This is his fee for a bench (judge only) trial. A similar jury trial (which can take 2 to 5 times longer) is often $15,000 or more.

The other four partners, on a case for which Mr. head charges $15,000, may charge between $5,000 and $10,000. Fees for associates to handle the case would be even lower, possibly as low as $2,500 to $3,000 depending on the type of trial (bench or jury) and location of the court.

For cases outside the metro Atlanta area, Mr. Head utilizes a network of talented local attorneys. The client is given the option to have Mr. Head (or a partner or associate of Mr. Head's firm) handle the case, or they can work with the local attorney almost exclusively. When this is done, Mr. Head remains involved in a "consulting" role for the lawyer in his network.
