Lawyer Joe Kunes
Joe
Kunes was born and raised in Tifton, Georgia. He has been practicing
law in Tifton and the surrounding counties since 1972. He is a graduate
of the University of Georgia, 1969, B.A., and University of Georgia
Law School J.D., 1972. In 32 years of practice he has handled all
areas of the law, but now restricts his practice to criminal defense
and personal injury work. The majority of his criminal practice
relates to the defense of drinking drivers. His personal injury
practice includes representing plaintiffs injured in automobile
accidents and medical malpractice cases.
Joe Kunes was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1972, and the Florida
Bar in 1973. He is a member of the Tifton Bar Association, the State
Bar of Georgia, the State Bar of Florida, Georgia Trial Lawyers
Association (Vice President in 2000), American Trial Lawyers Association
(sustaining member), National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys,
Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and Georgia Defense
of Drunk Drivers (D.O.D.D.). He is a prior recipient of the student
government award given by the local college, Abraham Baldwin. He
has been a guest speaker before law enforcement agencies, local
civic clubs, and recently participated as a program speaker at the
Institute of Continuing Legal Education Seminar entitled Georgia
DUI Update DUI by the Numbers, wherein Joe Kunes' program materials
reviewed the top thirty appellate cases from 1972 - 2002.
Joe Kunes has successfully represented defendants charged with
DUI and obtained dismissals and/or reductions of the charges in
the following South Georgia Counties: Tift, Worth, Dougherty, Irwin,
Ben Hill, Wilcox, Turner, Dooly, Lanier, Clinch, Crisp, Lowndes,
Cook, Berrien, Colquitt, Thomas, Atkinson, Ware, Coffee, Pierce,
Lee, Sumter, Houston, Terrell, and Bullock.
