The Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is very thorough. It will take approximately two hours. Mr. Hinman’s consultation fee is $250.00. This fee is not to hire or retain Mr. Hinman. It does not obligate you to hire him, nor does it obligate him to take your case.

If the arresting agency prepared an “incident report,” and if the report is available, we will obtain the report before you come in. This report usually consists of a narrative written by the arresting officer. We will provide you with a copy of the report.

Prior to the consultation, you should prepare a “time line,”– a chronological list of all of your activities on the day of the incident. The time line should be as detailed as possible. Please list anything you consumed that day, including prescription or non-prescription drugs, legal or illegal drugs, and of course, alcohol. Note the time each was consumed. It may also be relevant to include your activities the previous day. You will also need to fill out a lengthy form giving us important information about your background and the facts of the case.

Approximately the first half of the interview will consist of gathering information from you.

The second half will be devoted to advising you of:

● what you are facing,

● what your options are, and

● what, if anything, Mr. Hinman can do to help you.

If you have particular questions for Mr. Hinman, please feel free to ask them during the interview. You may want to write questions down before you come in.
