Georgia DUI FAQ
Q: How much is your fee?
A: That depends on a number of factors. The fee will be determined
only after a thorough review and evaluation of your case. Do not
expect a fee quote over the phone. It is necessary to gather available
information about the case and in most cases, conduct an in-office
interview before arriving at the fee.
These are some of the questions that must be asked before determining
the fee in your case.
Will it be contested? Is it advisable to contest it? What are the
odds of a favorable disposition?
Should the case be transferred to another court? What strategy will
we pursue? Is plea negotiation advisable? Are there prior DUI or
other serious traffic charges on your record?
Are there other charges involved in your case? If so, are they
minor traffic charges, serious traffic charges, or other criminal
misdemeanors or felonies?
In most cases, the fee will be substantial.
Q: Is there a fee for the initial consultation?
A: Yes. The consultation fee is $100.00. This includes a thorough
review and evaluation of your case.
Q: How long does the consultation take?
A: Normally, about 2 hours.
Q: Does the consultation or the $100.00 consultation fee create
any further obligation between attorney and client?
A: It does not obligate you to hire Mr. Hinman, and it does not
obligate Mr. Hinman to take the case.
Q: If I hire Mr. Hinman, will the $100.00 consultation fee be
credited toward the legal fee?
A: Yes.
Q: What is discussed at the initial consultation?
A: Mr. Hinman will ask you a number of questions to determine how
best to handle your case. Mr. Hinman will answer questions about
your DUI case. You may wish to write down questions for Mr. Hinman
prior to the consultation.
Q: Do you handle speeding tickets and other minor traffic charges?
A: Yes, but a word of caution. The fee is probably much higher
than you had in mind. Note: That if you are under 21, and you are
convicted of speeding 24 MPH over or more, your license will be
revoked for 6 months. "Convicted" includes being found
guilty, pleading guilty, or just paying the fine.
Q: How can I pay Mr. Hinman's fee?
A: In most cases, the fee will be a "flat fee," payable
in advance. Generally Mr. Hinman does not finance fee payments.
Credit cards are accepted. In most cases, personal checks are acceptable.
